Stop & Shop and the Westchester County Bee-Line Kick Off Week-Long Feeding Westchester Stuff-a-Bus Food Drive

Food Collected in 13 Stop & Shop Stores Across Westchester Will Aid Community Members Currently Facing Hunger

Representatives from Feeding Westchester, Stop & Shop, and Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins addressed the ongoing issue of hunger in Westchester today by kicking off a week-long Feeding Westchester Bee-Line Food Drive. The Bee-Line bus was stationed at the New Rochelle Stop & Shop today with the goal of “stuffing-the-bus” with much-needed items, such as stuffing, boxed macaroni and cheese, gravy, canned fruits and vegetables, and juice, donated to Feeding Westchester by the generous members of the Westchester community.

All food collected will be donated to Feeding Westchester and distributed through the food bank’s network of 175 local partners—including soup kitchens, food pantries, schools, shelters, residential programs, and mobile distributions. With more than 1 in 3 Westchester households at risk of hunger, this hunger-relief network served over 235,000 neighbor visits each month last year—including 80,000 child visits—and distributed more than 21 million pounds of food, equal to 17.5 million meals.

Donation bins will be set up at all 13 Westchester Stop & Shop stores until Sunday, Oct. 26.
