'Take Action' Flooding, Hail, 60 M.P.H Winds In Hudson Valley: NWS
The National Weather Service has issued watches and warnings across the region as strong storms with potentially heavy rains pack a punch.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Be careful out there. The National Weather Service warned of strong storms with the potential for heavy rains, hail, strong winds and flash flooding rolling through the Hudson Valley.
Power outages are already being reported as severe weather pushes through the region.
Dutchess County, Ulster County, Rockland County, Sullivan County, Westchester County, Putnam County, and parts of New York City, Long Island and Upstate Hudson Valley are affected.

The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 11 p.m. for most of the region. At 4:13 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Brewster, moving east at 40 mph, according to the NWS.
The weather service said 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail are possible. Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Wind damage to trees and power lines is expected. The storms may cause heavy downpours resulting in flooding with isolated flash flood events possible.

A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of Orange County, Putnam County, Rockland County and Westchester County until 7 p.m. on Friday. Rainfall of 1 to 1.5 inches an hour are expected in Newburgh, Peekskill, Monsey, Suffern, Monroe, Lake Carmel, West Point, Sloatsburg, Cold Spring, New Windsor, Gardnertown, Chester, Greenwood Lake, Pomona, Harriman Fahnestock State Park, Spring Valley, Kiryas Joel and Stony Point.
The Weather Service is reminding drivers not to try to cross flooded roadways, "Turn around, don't drown." Officials note that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
