The Taxman Cometh: AARP Offers Free Tax Help At New Rochelle Library

Trained AARP volunteer counselors will provide tax assistance on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from February 4 through April 15.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — It's that time of year again. The approach of tax time can cause understandable anxiety, but with a little free help from the experts, tax time doesn't need to be quite so taxing.

Free, in-person tax help will again be offered at the New Rochelle Public Library this tax season, through AARP Tax Aide.

Assistance will be provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting on Tuesday, February 4 through Tuesday, April 15. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Trained AARP volunteer counselors will meet with library patrons in the Meeting Room and on the stage of the Theater. Tax help will be provided on a first come, first served basis. No appointments will be available.

The library says that if demand is high on any day, they may need to stop accepting new patrons before 2 p.m. to make sure that that there is service for those already in line.

Participants should bring last year's federal and state returns and supporting documentation, as well as official photo identification and a social security card, or other comparable documentation. Tax documents should be printed out to ensure accuracy.
