Latest List Of HV Schools To Close Or Dismiss Early For Solar Eclipse

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — There are a few lessons that are better learned outside of the classroom — this year's solar eclipse is definitely better seen outdoors and in person (with the proper eye protection).

The eclipse isn't until April 8, but a few Hudson Valley schools are already making plans to close or dismiss students early for the big celestial event.

As of April 8, here are the schools that have announced closures or early dismissals on April 8. This list will be updated if new information becomes available.

• Carmel CSD: closed (emergency closure give-back day)
• Chappaqua CSD: 1-hr. early dismissals: BS/SB 1:30 p.m.; HG 1:35 p.m., DG/RB/WO 2:20 p.m.
• Croton-Harmon UFSD: CET elem. only, 1:30 p.m.
• Eastchester UFSD: early dismissal
• East Ramapo CSD: early dismissals: elem. 11:40 a.m., MS 12:40 a.m., HS 11 a.m.
• Ellenville CSD: early dismissals: junior/senior HS 11:15 a.m., elementary 12:15 p.m.
