Winter Blast: Snow, Frigid Temps In Hudson Valley Over Holiday Weekend

The National Weather Service forecast is calling for snow and a deep freeze for much of the region, just in time for the weekend.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Old Man Winter is sending a blast of wintry weather and frigid temperatures to the Hudson Valley this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

On Sunday, snowfall is forecast across the Hudson Valley, with up to 4 inches expected in some areas.

The snow will be caused by an area of low pressure that will be passing just offshore, bringing cold air to the region.

The bulk of the snowfall is expected Sunday morning, continuing through Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening and tapering off early Monday morning.

For most of the region, cloud cover will become a chance of rain on Friday afternoon. Highs are expected in the mid 40s by Friday evening.

Saturday night, NWS forecasters expect mostly cloudy skies with a slight chance of rain and snow in the evening. Lows in the upper 20s.

On Sunday, partly sunny skies with a chance of snow in the morning, then cloudy with snow likely in the afternoon. Light snow accumulation possible in southern Westchester County with higher amounts possible to the north. The chance of snow is 60 percent.

Snow is more likely in the evening. Additional light snow accumulation is possible. Lows 15 to 20.

The cold continues through Martin Luther King Jr. Day and into the work week with sunny skies and highs in the mid 20s. By Monday night, temps could drop to as low as 5 to 10 above zero, with wind chill values as low as 5 below after midnight.
