The North Fork Naturalists will have a kick-off meeting on Friday Jan. 21, at 6 p.m. at Inlet CountyPond Park in Greenport at the North Fork Audubon's red barn.
This recently-formed group is set to be an active environmental group for local students in grades 7-12. North Fork Audubon will lead the group.
The group will ask the teens what environmental issues are important to them and will set up activities that interest the students. Some of the activities the group may participate in include fencing nesting piping plovers, a 'secret shopper' initiative linked to Suffolk County's Invasive Species Ban List, seal watching, and teaming up with the Long Island Native Grassland Initiative.
