Crimes Nearby in Riverhead, Miller Place and the Hamptons
The following information was supplied by various town police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Riverhead:
Burglary
Two Riverhead men were arrested in Flanders Friday after detectives allegedly discovered them trying to steal a jukebox and other items from a garage.
Police said they received a call about two men loading a pickup truck with items from a Maple Avenue garage on Oct. 28 at around 3:45 p.m. When they arrived at the scene they spottedJerome Trent, 56, and Jonathan Downing, 48, both of Riverhead, putting a jukebox and other metal items in the truck, according to a police report.
The men told police they were helping clean up the property, police said. Town detectives said they discovered the men actually intended to take the items to a scrap yard for money. Trent and Downing were arrested and each charged with third-degree burglary, a felony.
DWI
A Flanders man was arrested and charged with drunk driving and other driving violations after Southampton police said he was seen driving erratically on Flanders Road on Oct. 29.
Julio Sebastian-Pedro, 24, of Riverhead, was charged with aggravated DWI, speeding, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and other vehicle and traffic violations, according to a police report.
Sebastian-Pedro was allegedly seen speeding on Flanders road around 8:05 a.m., police said. He was pulled over at Exit 66 on Sunrise Highway and was found to be intoxicated, police said. He was held for arraignment in the Southampton Town Justice Court.
Larceny
About two weeks after her , Nicole Leggon faces another charge related to her work as manager of a group home in Riverhead, according to Southampton Town Police.
Police said Leggon, 28, of Riverhead cashed and pocketed a $170 payroll check at the on West Second Street in Riverhead on June 30. The check belonged to a disabled resident at the in Riverhead, according to a police report. At the time of the incident Leggon was employed as the house manager and caregiver, according to police. She is currently unemployed.
Officers charged her with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, on Oct. 27 at police headquarters, according to a police report.
Leggon had been previously arrested on Oct. 14 and charged with petit larceny for allegedly stealing about $350 in cash from the residents of the Aid to the Developmentally Disabled home between June 1 and Sept. 1.

Southampton:
A 17-year-old senior was arrested Oct. 26 after parking in the school lot with a shotgun in the car, according to police. The student was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor. No threat was ever made against anyone and there was no ammunition in the car, the school superintendent said. At a court appearance, his attorney said the shotgun was an antique and inoperable, 27east reported.
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance
Garfield Reid, 38, of East Hampton was arrested last Oct. 27 at 10:38 p.m. at the corner of Sunrise Avenue and Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. Reid was a passenger in a car pulled over for a traffic violation when officers saw that he had over 25 grams of marijuana, according to police.
DWI
Jairo Lopez-Bonilla, 20, of Bridgehampton was arrested Saturday at 1:27 a.m. at the corner of Sag Harbor Turnpike and Scuttlehole Road in Bridgehampton and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police said they saw Lopez-Bonilla driving out of lane when they pulled him over.
Osbeli Salazar, 35, of Southampton was arrested Friday at 2:53 p.m. at the corner of Montauk Highway and Victoria Road in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. Police said Salazar was stopped for leaving the scene of a minor accident when they discovered he appeared intoxicated.
Criminal Contempt
Trevor Basserbie, 39, of Water Mill was arrested Oct. 24 at 11:21 a.m. at Southampton Village Police headquarters on Windmill Lane in Southampton and charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. Police said Basserbie violated an order of protection by calling someone twice from an unknown phone number on Oct. 21 at 1:07 a.m.
Westhampton-Hampton Bays:
DWI
Julio Sebastian-Pedro, 24, of Riverhead was arrested Saturday at 8:05 a.m. near the exit for North Road on Sunrise Highway and charged with DWI and unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors. Officers say they saw Sebastian-Pedro driving fast down Flanders Road and he appeared intoxicated when they pulled him over.

Burglary
A 53-year-old man from St. James told Town Police that sometime between Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, someone broke into his home on Old Wakeman Road in Hampton Bays and stole a television and DVD player, worth a total of $250. Police are investigating for fingerprints and police determined that local kids go through the man’s property to get to Canoe Place Road.

Larceny
A 49-year-old man from Hampton Bays told Town Police that sometime last Tuesday, Oct. 25 someone stole an iPhone and case from his car, parked in the driveway of his home on Kyle Road. The man told police that he heard odd noises outside his home at around 12:30 a.m. Oct. 25. Town detectives are investigating.
Criminal Mischief
Craig Oudeans, 42, of East Quogue was arrested Saturday at 3 a.m. on West Side Avenue in East Quogue and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. Oudeans kicked in the front door of a home, damaging it and its jamb, police said.
Mysterious Vomit
A 54-year-old man from the Bronx arrived at his Hampton Bays home, on Grant Boulevard, Saturday at 3 p.m. and discovered a small pile of vomit on his couch and household items scattered throughout the residence. Small footprints were found around the windows and doors, and two chimney flues on the roof were uncapped. Police determined that a raccoon had most likely entered the home, which had last been secured Oct. 19.
East Hampton:
Matthew J. McGuire, 21, of East Hampton was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, on Saturday at about 3:40 a.m. Police pulled him over in a Chevy pickup truck on Route 114, near Mane Lane, 20 minutes earlier after he was driving in the shoulder, almost off the roadway, kicking up rocks and debris while passing through an intersection. As the vehicle headed toward East Hampton Village, police said he swerved several more times. He appeared drunk and refused to take a blood alcohol test. He reportedly told police, "I'm gonna be over if I blow into that thing." He was arrested and refused to take a breath test at police headquarters. East Hampton Town Justice Catherine A. Cahill arraigned him the following day, releasing him on $350 bail.
Dedrick T. Malone, 25, of East Hampton was arrested on a DWI charge on Sunday at about 3:30 a.m. Police said they saw Malone driving a 2004 Acura on Montauk Highway, near Abraham's Path, and swerve into the shoulder and over the double-yellow lines several times. When he was stopped on Pantigo Road, near Amy's Lane, he appeared drunk. "When asked to produce his driver's license, he had a delayed response and then very slowly began to look through his pockets," police said in his arrest report. At headquarters, he refused to submit to a breath test. Justice Cahill released him on $500 bail later that morning.
Miller Place-Rocky Point:
Thomas Engel, 20, of Selden was arrested on Oct. 23 at 2:50 a.m. for first offense driving while intoxicated. He was travelling eastbound on Route 25A in Mount Sinai in a 1996 Plymouth.
Jonathan Gordon, 51, of Mount Sinai was arrested on Oct. 22 at 11:08 a.m. on Route 25A in Miller Place. He reportedly had an altercation after a motor vehicle accident and kicked a car door. He was charged with second degree harassment with physical contact and criminal mischief with intent to damage property.
Christopher Barber, 23, from Rocky Point was arrested on Oct. 22 at 2:50 p.m. on Straight Path in Wyandanch. He was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and loitering.
