Cutchogue Wellness Center Well on the Way to March Grand Opening

Former Synchronicity in Cutchogue gets makeover by local health and wellness experts; grand opening planned for March.

With all the recent talk about a — and now with plans for a— one existing wellness facility has been overlooked: The NoFo Wellness Center on Depot Lane in Cutchogue.

For years, the facility known as Synchronicity provided wellness classes and other workout methods. But the business closed this past August and was in desperate need of renovations and upgrades, according to new owner Andrea Esposito.

“There is something for everyone here, it just needed a lot of work,” she said. “Curves, pilates, aerobics, fitness, weight training — we wanted to join all offerings here.”

Esposito, 42, began work on NoFo Wellness Center last September. She had two locations — one in Mattituck and then she opened Southold. After a few years she relocated the business to Cutchogue, where she combined both facilities prior to moving into the Synchronicity location.

Esposito said that the Curves circuit at NoFo Wellness, which is located in an upstairs studio space with lots of natural light filtering in, is already constantly busy, and other fitness programs are picking up. She said that she’s gotten the word out about the place by word of mouth only during the past month or so.

“We’re large enough to do family programs like kids’ sports programs as well,” she said. "We just want everyday people to feel comfortable here.”

Aside from Curves, the NoFo Wellness Center features a room for pilates, a traditional weight room with free weights and machines, lots of cardio equipment, two racquetball/all purpose rooms, locker rooms with saunas, and a massage room that is currently under construction. The center also offers Isagenix, a nutritional cleansing program.

Esposito has a degree in health sciences and wellness, and the center also employs people like Eileen Benthal, a wellness coach who is offering a “40 Days to Focus” class.

“Everyone is so stressed out all the time and not taking care of themselves,” Esposito said. “We just want to do things to get people to move.”

Ellen Harbes, 48, is one community member who has already been taking advantage of NoFo Wellness Center. The Laurel resident said she is getting ready for an East End “soccer mom” team, made up of women over 40, to launch in March.

“I feel so much better even after a few weeks, I really do,” she said.
