Man Drove While Intoxicated With Baby, 5 Months, In Vehicle: Police
He's facing a felony charge under Leandra's Law, police say.
SHELTER ISLAND, NY — A Shelter Island man was arrested after he drove while intoxicated with a 5-month-old baby in the car, police said.
According to Shelter Island police, the incident took place on Friday at 12:24 a.m. After an investigation into a dispute, Alam Omar Morales-Gomez, 28, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a felony under Leandra's Law.
He was also charged with DWI, endangering the welfare of a child, and having alcohol/cannabis in a motor vehicle on a highway, police said.

He was held overnight, arraigned at Southold Town Justice Court, and released on his own recognizance and directed to return at a later date, police said.
