Man In Stolen Car Flees Officers On North Fork: Police

He's facing a felony charge after leading officers on a short pursuit, police say.

EAST MARION, NY — A Lake Grove man was arrested after being caught in a stolen car in East Marion recently, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the arrest took place on May 22 at 6:28 a.m. on Main Road. Justis Fuentes, 23, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, police said.

Southold Town police officers observed a stolen vehicle traveling west on Main Road in Orient, authorities said. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Fuentes failed to pull over and fled, leading officers on a short pursuit, police said.

With the assistance of multiple patrol units, officers successfully deployed spike strips, which disabled the fleeing vehicle, police said.

Fuentes was taken into custody without further incident; the vehicle had been previously reported stolen from Saint James on May 21, police said.

Fuentes was transported to the Southold Police Department, where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
