Open for the Season: Shelter Island’s La Maison Blanche

Former Olde Country Inn opens for second season with new pool.

Looking for a posh getaway right in your own backyard? Get on the North Ferry this summer and book a night or two at La Maison Blanche on Shelter Island.

La Maison Blanche, formerly known as the , is an 8-room luxury hotel complete with a restaurant, bar, bakery, and now new in-ground pool. The hotel’s Carte Blanche Card, will give members guaranteed entrance to the pool, access to a table at the restaurant no matter how busy, food and beverage discounts, specials during certain times of the day, and discounted rooms. Morning yoga classes will also be offered poolside.

The hotel is located at 11 Stearns Point Road. Crescent Beach and the shopping district are within walking distance. It features a lounge and a garden bar, as well as indoor and outdoor dining with a seasonal, brasserie-style menu. Chef Charles Le Tous, known from his work at L’Absinthe and Bistro Vendome in New York City, offers a wide-ranging brasserie menu highlighting local ingredients for breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner, as well as on-site catering for special events, including weddings. The hotel’s on-site bakery includes croissants, muffins, and baguettes created fresh daily.

John Sieni and Alistair MacLean bought the Shelter Island bed and breakfast, built in 1886, in 2011 and gave the historic property a modern twist. During its debut season, La Maison Blanche was featured in Travel & Leisure, The New York Times, The London Sunday Times, and other publications catering to the traveler.
