Nearly 500 people packed into John H. boat on Saturday night for a cruise to watch Fourth of July fireworks out of New London, Conn. — which also raised money for bothin Greenport and a high school scholarship fund.

The donation to the hospital will be given in the name of , who this past Jan. 3 following a Dec. 30 fire during which he was badly burned at his company, fuel oil service of Southold. The former Councilman is remembered for his philanthropy and caring spirit.
