Pickup Catches Fire On Christmas; LI Driver Charged With DWI: PD
A passenger in the vehicle was charged with disorderly conduct, Southold Town police say.
EAST MARION, NY — A fire broke out in a truck early Christmas morning — and the driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
According to Southold Town police, the incident took place on Rocky Point Road in East Marion at 4:19 a.m. Charles Donarummo, 26, of East Marion, was driving a 2003 Chevy pickup on Rocky Point Road when the vehicle caught fire, police said.
The East Marion Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire, police said. Donarummo was found to be intoxicated; he was arrested, charged with DWI, processed and held for arraignment, police said.

A 26-year-old from Southold who was a passenger in the vehicle was also arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after creating a disturbance at the scene; he was transported to police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment, police said.
