Police: Greenport Man Charged With Cocaine Possession

Southold Town Police find cocaine on a Greenport man early Saturday morning.

The following information was supplied by the Southold Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Kevin Smith, 26, of Greenport, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on June 16 at 2:35 a.m. on Adams Street in Greenport. An officer on patrol noticed Smith’s hand in his pocket and when he asked Smith to take his hand out of is pocket, the officer found a small brown vail with a white powdery substance in it, police said. The officer checked the pocket and found Smith had poured the powder, which was tested later and found to be cocaine, into his pocket, police said. Smith was arrested, processed and released on cash bail with a later court date.
