Police: Greenport Man Drives Drunk, Knocks Down Utility Poles

Michael Butts, 53, of Greenport, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Saturday at 2:07 a.m., after police and members of the responded to the scene of a car accident on Main Street in the village, police said.
Butts had struck a speed limit sign and knocked down two utility poles, police said. Rescue workers extricated Butts from his vehicle, and police found him to be intoxicated, police said. Butts was transported to and was held awaiting arraignment.
