POLL: Whom Will You Elect to be Southold Town Tax Receiver?
Now that we have their stories, we want to know who you will vote for on Nov. 8.

Tax receiver is usually not a local government position that attracts controversy. But Democratic candidate Bill Edwards has whipped up a bit of it this year on the platform, saying that if he is elected he will in order to save the town what he says will amount to up to half a million dollars over the next 10 years.
, who has been serving Southold Town as tax receiver for 16 years, disagrees. He said that he earns just under $35,00 a year and in the long-term, the employee hired to fill the position would cost the taxpayers more in salary and benefits. Sullivan also said that under state law, the town clerk would have to be compensated for the additional responsibilities that the office would assume.
