Is the North Fork the 'New Hamptons'?
Lots of "Hampton-y" things have been planting themselves on the North Fork — but how many North Fork references do you see in the actual Hamptons?

Over this past weekend, a few wonders of the North Fork were this past Sunday and will continue through the week.
These examples are just two of many incidents where the Hamptons have "invaded" the North Fork: We will soon have a , the picks people up and drops them off here, and the cast and crew of USA Network's pretend they're in the Hamptons when they shoot in wine country.
And, to add salt to the wound, , at least in the state assembly district (no worries, it's still part of North Fork Patch though.)

"It's Hamptons Restaurant Week, and I don't get it," said reader Carlos DeJesus in a recent Facebook comment. "Why be associated with that? Make it the North Fork Restaurant Week — they are totally different. I am a Greenport native, a North Fork Native, not a Hampton person. Apples and oranges — correct?"
So our question of the day is this: Is the North Fork becoming the new Hamptons? Is the longstanding fame of the getaway for New York City's rich and famous just too powerful for the North Fork to establish itself as a separate but equal destination? Or do you think the allure of "Wine Country" and everything else unique about the North Fork will eventually eclipse the Hamptons in the eyes of the rest of the world?
