Southampton Man Charged With DWI After North Fork Pursuit: PD

He tried to flee police officers, officials say.

MATTITUCK, NY — A Southampton man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after attempting to flee from an officer on the North Fork, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place on Monday at about 12:46 a.m. on Route 48 in Southold.

Jason Hernandez Ramos, 25, was arrested after police saw a vehicle stopped, partially blocking the roadway, authorities said. While interviewing Hernandez Ramos, he then fled the scene and headed west on Route 48; a pursuit ensued, police said.

He was eventually stopped in the driveway of a home in Mattituck, police said. He was arrested and charged with DWI; obstructing governmental administration; unlawful fleeing a police officer, and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations, police said. His vehicle was impounded due to a previous DWI conviction, police said.
