Southold Town — On the Agenda

Regular meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday; controversial summer bike-a-thon and changes to a law involving second dwellings are up for resolution.

Members of the Southold Town Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. for their regular meeting at Town Hall on Tuesday. The following issues are a few on the agenda:

• Two weeks ago, board members to take place through the North Fork in September but tabled another daytime ride to take place in late August — as it has for the past nine years — from the same company. They will vote to permit of deny this one on Tuesday.

• The Board will vote to grant permission to the New York Organ Donor Network to use the parking lot in Peconic to park overflow vehicles on May 10, 2012 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. A certificate of insurance is already on file with the Town Clerk’s office for the event.

• The issuance of a fireworks permit by the Town Clerk to Star Hose Company of the , for a fireworks display on May 26 and May 28 at Greenport High School’s field is also up for approval.

• A public hearing on changes proposed to a local law regarding second dwellings in town will be set for May 8. The purpose of the law is to allow a second dwelling on certain parcels in town that would not require the creation of a second lot through the subdivision process upon the approval of the Zoning Board of Appeals. It is also the intent of this law to enhance property values and the health, safety and welfare of the community, according to the agenda.
