Winterfest Kicks Off At Hotel Indigo

Jazz on the Vine happens next weekend across several Riverhead and North Fork venues.

Long Island Winterfest kicked off on Thursday just before noon with a performance from pianist Jane Hastay and bassist Steve Watson in the newly refurbished lobby of , formerly the Best Western in Riverhead.

Pat Snyder, president of the Steve Bate, executive director of the , and Suffolk County Legislatorspoke to a small crowd of media folk and jazz enthusiasts about the 2011 concert lineup.

The series featuring jazz performances begins on Feb. 12 throughout various venues on the East End and ends March 20. High-profile performers include saxophonist Dave Liebman, well-known jazz drummer Matt Wilson and Winterfest regular David Amram, a composer and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work on early '60s movie soundtracks such as “Splendor in the Grass.”
