Man Charged With DWI After Rear-Ending Another Vehicle: Police

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after rear-ending another vehicle recently, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the two-car collision took place on December 22 at about 8:06 p.m. at the intersection of Squiretown Road and Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

Responding officers determined that the driver of one of the vehicles, while in an intoxicated condition, rear-ended the other motor vehicle as traffic was beginning to move; as a result of the collision, the driver of the vehicle that was struck sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

Alvaro Gonzalez De Los Santos, 41, was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, police said.

Gonzalez De Los Santos was transported to Southampton Town police headquarters, where he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
