Starflower Experiences has booked two events June 2 at Manor Farm in Huntington:
1. Our Community Yard Sale We need some help with set up, cleanup, directing cars all day (in shifts of 3-4 hours), and we're looking for people who'd like to price items and sell from Starflower's own table (helps us raise funds). Set up starts at 7:30, though some people who are selling their own stuff come a bit earlier! The event runs through 4 pm, but cleanup goes until about 5. Bring lunch and water and a hat and sunscreen (this event is in an open field with no shade). 2. National Trails Day We want to make a massive effort to repair some of the trails in Berkeley Jackson County Park behind Manor Farm. We'll need to trim some vegetation, put in steps and water bars, and we hope to paint over much of the graffiti on the trees in there. Wear work gloves, old clothes, insect repellent and if you have tools, please bring them. We don't have many of our own. Bring clippers/loppers, saws, and shovels. We'll meet at Manor Farm at 9:30 am and go into the park from there. Bring lunch and water. NOTE: If you are coming to help with the yard sale, you will need to go in the entrance we are using for that event. We'll park as many trail helpers as we can near the house (the south-most entrance) and any overflow in the yard sale parking area. Manor Farm is at 210 Manor Rd, Huntington 11743 (in Elwood, not far north of Jericho Tpk). Directions are on our website or you can mapquest it. If you want to help with a special poison ivy removal day (or days) in May, let me know so we can pick a date and get a team together. We have someone who can tell you how to dress and take care not to get it. We need to get the poison ivy back away from the trails.
We are planning a work day at Manor Farm anyway for May 5 from 10 - 2. Bring work gloves and lunch.
