After Losing Her Brother, Splash Is Ready For A Fresh Start: Northport Kitties of The Week
Splash found new strength after losing her brother and is now ready to be adopted through Northport Cat Rescue Association.
NORTHPORT, NY — This week’s featured cat from the Northport Cat Rescue Association is Splash, a small kitten whose resilience and quiet strength have captured the hearts of those who have cared for her.
Born April 14, Splash entered rescue alongside her brother, Surf, who quickly became her constant companion. She followed him everywhere, relying on him for comfort and security. When Surf suddenly became ill and passed away, Splash’s world changed.
She searched for him, waited for him, and she grieved in a way that broke all our hearts," said Lora Wild, volunteer at the rescue. "But love has a way of finding those who need it most."

Placed into a gentle foster home filled with patient humans and friendly cats, Splash slowly began to heal. At first, the changes were subtle — a soft purr, a cautious peek from behind a door. Over time, her playful spirit began to reemerge, marked by bursts of kitten energy that signaled her growing confidence.
"Today, Splash is a different girl — still tender, still a little nervous, but brave in the most beautiful ways," Wild said. "She plays all day long, she adores other cats, and when she feels safe, she’ll crawl right into your lap and melt into you."

While Splash has not forgotten her brother, she has rediscovered joy and hope. The rescue hopes her next move will be her forever home.
"We want her next move to be her last — a home full of warmth, patience, and holiday magic," Wild said. "A home where she’ll never feel alone again. "
Splash is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, litter box-trained, microchipped, and has tested negative for FELV and FIV. Those interested in meeting Splash can visit the Northport Cat Rescue Association website to complete an adoption application, call 631-606-2631, or email info@northportcatrescue.org.
"Help us give Splash the cozy, love-filled future she deserves," Wild said.
