Man Critically Injured In Suffolk Crash: Police

The man, who was driving a pickup truck, collided head-on with a box truck, police say.

FORT SALONGA, NY — A Northport man was critically injured in a collision in Fort Salonga on Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

Kenneth Gallagher, 24, was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound on Fort Salonga Road when he collided head-on with a box truck traveling eastbound on Fort Salonga Road, at 4:40 p.m., police said.

Gallagher was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the box truck, a 25-year-old Hauppauge man, was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The box truck was processed at the scene by the Suffolk County Police Motor Carrier Safety Unit and the Dodge was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash was asked to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
