Man Killed In Crash In Suffolk

The man lost control of his Nissan Rogue, struck a pole and was then ejected from his SUV and into a nearby creek, police say.

FORT SALONGA, NY — A man was killed in a one-car crash in Fort Salonga early Monday, Suffolk police said.

John Burke, 57, of Northport, was driving a 2019 Nissan Rogue westbound on Route 25A when he lost control of the SUV at 2:22 a.m. Monday, police said. Burke's Nissan struck a pole at Sunken Meadow Road and came to a rest on its side, off the roadway, police said. Burke was thrown from the SUV and into a nearby creek, police said.

Burke was pronounced dead at the scene.
