Man Seriously Injured In East Northport Crash: Police
The family of the man seriously injured, who was a passenger, raised questions about the nature of the crash, according to reports.
EAST NORTHPORT, NY — Three people were injured — one seriously — in a collision in East Northport on Oct. 12, Suffolk police said. The family of the man seriously injured in the crash is raising questions about the nature of the collision, news outlets reported.
The family of James King, 22, told Newsday that they learned about the crash after a Suffolk police officer knocked on their door. The officer left an Accident Information Exchange Form listing McGay's father, police Det. John McGay, as the driver, though the officer told the family that Ryan McGay was driving, Newsday first reported.
Suffolk police told Patch on Friday that a 2012 Mazda, driven by Cheng Liu, 59, and a 2019 Honda, driven by Ryan McGay, 17, crashed at the intersection of Elwood Road and Saratoga Avenue at 12:03 a.m.

King, who was a passenger in the Mazda, was seriously injured and brought to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, police said. Liu and a 16-year-old girl in the Honda were brought to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
A news release was not immediately released by the department following the crash.

Liu was driving an Uber with King as a passenger at the time of the crash, PIX 11 reported.
Jonathan Manley, John McGay's attorney, did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment on Friday.
King suffered a serious brain injury, Newsday reported.
His sister said that the family cannot get answers as to why the accident report listed John McGay as the driver when they have been told that Ryan McGay was driving and allegedly ran a stop sign before striking the Uber, according to the PIX report.
The family does not know if a Breathalyzer test was done, PIX 11 reported.
King works as a security guard with the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, his sister, Amanda Smith, told Newsday.
Witnesses told PIX 11 a car "full of teenagers" hit the Uber, not a 57-year-old man.
Lindsey Veni, King's cousin, told Pam Robinson of Huntington Now that King was hospitalized after the crash, but his family could not find him for hours until they located him at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. King was listed under an alias, making it harder to track him down, Veni told Huntington Now. She also told the outlet that police questioned how much King had to drink despite him being a passenger.
Veni said King was responding to family members' voices and squeezing their hands as of Wednesday, Huntington Now reported.
King was airlifted to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset on Wednesday so he could undergo treatment by retina and eye specialists, Smith told Newsday.
No charges were filed in the crash, Newsday reported.
