Police Log: Worker Crushes Hand, Woman Hurt After Tripping On Dog

Monday, July 16
At 8:27 a.m., a sanitation worker crushed his hand while working at the Northport Fire Department on Main Street. Northport Rescue transported the man to Huntington Hospital.
At 4:58 p.m., police received a report of a group of teenagers who were attempting to use the private Harbour Point Marina without permission. The teens were gone upon police arrival.

Tuesday, July 17
At 6:36 p.m., police received a report of a stolen package on Franklin Street in which the caller states his mother opened up a package and took his air soft gun. The mother said guns are not allowed in her house and she opened the package due to illegal substances being mailed to her son in the past. The mother said she would return the package so her son would get his money back. The son disagreed with the solution and police said he could move out if he didn't like his mother's rules.

At 8:02 p.m., police received a report of a man lying in the grass unconscious on Scudder Avenue. Police arrived to the scene to determine the man was intoxicated but not in need of medical attention. Officers transported the man home.
Friday, July 20
At 10:30 a.m., police reported criminal trespass in which an unknown person entered a boat in Northport Harbor and remained there unlawfully.
At 10:23 p.m., police received a report of a road rage incident on Steers Avenue in which a man was being tailgated by a white Lexus SUV for several minutes. The man tried to pull over and speak with the Lexus driver, but the vehicle took off.
Saturday, July 21
At 4:21 a.m., police received a report of an intoxicated woman lying on the sidewalk on Main Street. Officers determined the woman, who was highly intoxicated, fell, which caused a laceration to the back of her head.
At 9:31 a.m., police received a report of a woman who tripped over her dog and injured her left elbow on Main Street. She was transported to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.
At 3:14 p.m., police received a report of a dog left in a car in the Guinta's Shopping Center parking lot on Fort Salonga Road. Officers found the dog in the car with the windows down. It was about 75 degrees outside and the dog did not appear to be in distress. The owner soon returned and left without incident.
Sunday, July 22
At 11:01 a.m., police say a car crashed into a tree on Ocean Avenue. Officers remained at the scene until Suffolk Police's arrival.
