A look at what's happening today in town.

Good morning, Northport. Here's a look at what's happening today in town.

Workshop for Parents with Children with Special Needs
A workshop will be held today for parents of children with special needs at the Elwood Public Library at 7 p.m. The workshop will introduce different aspects in developing a life care plan for achieving the best quality of life in every area for children with special needs. The program will touch on topics including: planning the transition through the school years and different schools; preventing the loss of government benefits; supplemental needs trusts- how they work and why they are useful; how to fund your child's financial future during uncertain times; guardianship - who will make the important decisions when the special needs child turns 18; and preparing an effective "letter of intent" that spells out not only your hopes and dreams for your child, but also their own unique needs and wishes. Call Elwood Library to register at 499-3722. Priority is given to Elwood residents. Non-residents will be placed on a waiting list.
