Woman Who Killed Her Mother With 2 Knives Pleads Guilty: Rockland DA

Prosecutors said the husband was on the phone with 911 when the stabbing occurred.

STONY POINT, NY — A woman who killed her mother with two knives pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced Wednesday.

Marilyn Mora 27, of Stony Point, New York entered her plea before the Hon. Anne B. Bianchi on Tuesday, the DA's office said.

At 12:45 a.m. Dec. 11, 2022, members of the Stony Point Police Department responded to a call of a stabbing in progress. When officers arrived, they heard yelling from inside. They entered and found a woman lying face down in the middle of the hallway on the second floor of the residence in a pool of blood and another woman being restrained by a man at the end of the hall.

Mora was detained and transported to headquarters for questioning. Detectives conducted a comprehensive investigation into Quispe's murder, Walsh said.

According to prosecutors, Mora used two kitchen knives to inflict the fatal wounds. The violence was witnessed by Mora's husband, who was on the phone with 911 during the verbal altercation that occurred just prior to, and during the stabbing.

"The defendant in this case engaged in a heinous act of senseless violence that resulted in the death of her mother," Walsh said. "She now faces the full consequences for her actions under the law with a lengthy prison term. While nothing can bring back the victim, it is my hope that this outcome provides some sense of closure and allows for the healing process to begin.”

Mora was sent to Rockland County Jail. She is expected to be sentenced to 17 years in state prison, with 5 years post-release supervision, on Dec. 3.

The case was prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Graham Chapman and First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Lloyd.
