Hot & Hazardous: Hudson Valley Forecast

Thunderstorms could mean isolated flash flooding, the National Weather Service said.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It's going to be hot, humid and stormy over the next three days, according to the National Weather Service.

"Uncomfortable conditions with heat and humidity. An unsettled week ahead as several disturbances pass over our area providing multiple rounds with showers and thunderstorms," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather wrote on Facebook. "Junglelike humidity for today, Friday, Saturday, and next Wednesday. Late Friday will feel like a swamp!"

A hazardous outlook for Dutchess and Ulster counties warns of thunderstorms Wednesday and again Friday through Sunday. Some of the thunderstorms will bring locally heavy rainfall. Isolated instances of flash flooding can not be ruled out, the NWS said.

"Looking ahead to Thursday and Friday… Thursday looks hot but mostly sunny and dry… with highs near 90°, while Friday we will have to monitor the potential for more scattered showers and storms," said the folks at Hudson Valley Weather.

The NWS is already warning that heat advisories may be needed for some lower-elevation areas in Dutchess and Ulster on Friday, when heat indices in the mid-Hudson are expected to approach or exceed 95 degrees, and the heat indices in the lower valley will be about the same.
