Nyack Fresh Market Evacuated After Man Barricades Himself In Bathroom: PD

NYACK, NY — The Nyack Fresh Market grocery store had to be evacuated Saturday after a man barricaded himself in one of its bathrooms and indicated he might hurt himself, according to police.

The incident happened Saturday, and no one was injured, police said.

The Orangetown Police Department emptied the store as a precaution and engaged with the man for about two hours, officials said.

While the man initially refused to leave the bathroom, officers were able to get him out unharmed, and he was taken by ambulance to Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

The man is not a local resident, officials said.

The business addressed its customers about the situation on Facebook as it was in progress, and the market was able to reopen for normal operations after a couple of hours.
