- Monday is Veteran's Day. Thank you to all of America's veterans for their service.
- The annual Lend a Hand coat drive runs from Tuesday through Friday at the entrance to Tappan Zee High School on Dutch Hill Road in Orangeburg. Adult jeans, shoes and sneakers will also be accepted. Donated items will go to People to People, the Nyack Homeless Project and One to One Learning. Volunteers are needed to sort through items from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Read more here.
- The Rockland County Legislature’s Planning & Public Works Committee will meet at 7 p.m. followed by the Budget & Finance Committee at 7:30 p.m. The meetings are open to the public and take place held at 11 New Hempstead Road in New City.
- The Orangetown Town Council will hold a public hearing on the 2014 prelimary town budget during the regular board meeting that begins 7:30 p.m. in Orangetown Town Hall on Orangeburg Road. The public hearing will begin no earlier than 8:10 p.m., but it could be later with another hearing set for 8 p.m. regarding the town's contract with the Blauvelt Fire Department. The town council must adopt its 2014 budget by Nov. 19. The full agenda for Tuesday's meeting is on the town website here.
- The Piermont Board of Trustees will hear a presentation from John VandenOever and discuss a letter by Betsy Blair of the NYS DEC regarding state plans to restore the Piermont Marsh during a meeting that begins at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.
- The Nyack Board of Education will vote on accepting the results for the district's $26.4 million bond referendum, which passed Oct. 29, during a meeting that begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Hilltop administration building. The full meeting agenda is available here.
- The Rockland Independent Living Center and Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski will host a Town Hall Training at the Fire Training Center in Pomona from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The training is designed to teach and empower local communities how to better include and respond to people with disabilities including the responsibilities of municipal employees in addressing the needs of persons with disabilities.
- The RBA Annual Celebrity Dinner features Guest Speaker Joe Connolly, business commentator with WCBS Newsradio and the Wall Street Journal. The evening includes a cocktail reception, dinner, guest speaker and Viennese Dessert Table. Reservations are required and contact information can be found here.
- The Rockland County Legislature’s Environmental Committee meets at 6 p.m. at 11 New Hempstead Road in New City. The meeting is open to the public.
- The Nyack branch of the NAACP will hold a presentation about what people should and should not do if stopped by a police officer at 7 p.m. at the Nyack Center at 58 Depew Ave. in Nyack. Read more here.
