Park Police Officer Guarding Disabled Car Injured On Palisades Parkway

The driver of a Ford Expedition crashed into the officer's car from behind at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday.

STONY POINT, NY — At 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, a New York State park police officer was injured while helping the driver of a vehicle that became disabled on the Palisades Interstate Parkway.

State police said a Park Police vehicle, a 2017 Ford Taurus, was stopped southbound in the right lane between exits 15 and 16 — with its emergency lights activated. The officer was blocking the lane for a disabled vehicle that was stuck in the driving lane.

The officer’s vehicle was struck from behind by a 2022 Ford Expedition, operated by Yoley Teichman, 36, of Kiryas Joel. After the impact, the Expedition traveled across the parkway and rolled over.

The officer received non-life-threatening injuries, and along with Teichman was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

The disabled vehicle and its driver were not struck.

State troopers from the Haverstraw barracks responded to the collision. The investigation continues.
