South Orangetown School District students will get the opportunity to learn about public safety at the 10th Annual Piermont Safety Day Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event allows the children to meet local police officers, firefighters and EMT workers in a positive, fun situation rather than during an emergency. Demonstrations include things like tours of emergency vehicles, lessons on properly using a stretcher and how horse-mounted police are employed.
Piermont Pier will be closed to vehicle traffic until 3 p.m. for the event.
