Rockland County launched its Civil Rights Hall of Fame in 2003 as part of the 40th anniversary of the Human Rights Commission.
"the program recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to the advancement of equality, diversity, human rights and civil rights in Rockland County," Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef said.
Rockland County is accepting nominations for Civil Rights Hal of Fame for 2013. The deadline is Dec. 16. Nomination forms are available online at www.rocklandgov.com/departments/human-rights/. Forms are also available throughl the Rockland County Commission on Human Rights at (845) 354-3886.
Any individual, living or dead, who has made contributions to human and civil rights in Rockland County is eligible. Commissioner of Human Rights S. Ram Nagubandi said the inductees will be chosen by a panel of volunteers representing a cross section of Rockland County.
Phyllis B. Frank, Doroteo C. De Guzman, Willie Trotman and the late Thomas Ulysses Alexander were inducted last year.
