SOUTH NYACK, NY — A community gun buyback event collected 35 guns Thursday evening in South Nyack.
The event was hosted by the Rockland County Sheriff's Office, Orangetown Police Department and New York State Police.

"Gun violence continues to threaten the people of Rockland County and throughout our State,"
said Sheriff Louis Falco. "Working with our partners in Orangetown and the State Police last evening, we removed 35 firearms from our community, guns that could have potentially been used in criminal and other violent acts. We will continue to partner with all of Rockland County law enforcement in our continuing efforts to keep the people of Rockland County safe."
