The rain finally let up long enough to allow a full day of Section 1 playoff games and the Tappan Zee baseball and softball teams took full advantage Wednesday. The top-seeded Tappan Zee baseball team jumped out to a nine-run lead and held on for a 10-6 victory over No. 8 Somers Wednesday at Veteran's Park. The Dutchmen will play at home 4 p.m. Thursday against No. 4 Beacon in the Section 1 Class A semifinals. Beacon defeated Pelham, 7-4, Wednesday. The No. 3 Tappan Zee softball team edged No. 14 Albertus Magnus, 3-2,  at home Wednesday. No. 11 Port Chester will play at Tappan Zee 4 p.m. Thursday in the Section 1 Class A quarterfinals.  Elsewhere in the Class A playoffs, Nyack's season came to an end with a 1-0 loss at No. 5 seed Brewster.
