Top seed Tappan Zee rallied for four runs in the sixth and hung on for a 10-8 victory at home against No. 16 Lakeland in the first round of the Section 1 Class A baseball playoffs Wednesday.
Eric Casey hit a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth to break a 6-6 tie and Matt Scherf contributed three hits, one of them a two-run home run, for the Dutchmen (14-7). Dan Citardi gave up two runs, none earned, in the final 3 1/3 innings for the victory.
No. 8 Somers will play at Tappan Zee 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals.
