"The Telling: A Gathering of Remembrance" is a multi-media event including dinner.
OSSINING, NY — The Briarcliff Ossining Ministerial Association, Star of Bethlehem Church and the Juneteenth Council will host a special community event for Juneteenth.
"The Telling: A Gathering of Remembrance," is an event built from a traditional Passover Seder told from the perspective, and with the foods, of the African American experience from slavery to freedom.
It will be led by A. W. Hampton, a resident of Montgomery, Ala., and Ossining Historian Joyce Sharrock Cole.

"The Telling" was inspired by a Jewish Passover experience to offer a condensed, unified history of African-Americans that can be shared over a soul food meal, the organizers said. The Seder highlights a people’s suffering and cries for help, as well as God’s response to liberation.
The story is told through inspirational words, scripture, pictures, and historical references.
