CROTON-ON-HARMON, NY - Croton-Harmon Board of Education members, administrators, teachers and students welcomed New York State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef for the official ribbon-cutting of the school’s new television production studio on Nov. 3.
The district secured grant funds with Galef’s assistance to buy the initial equipment needed to bring the studio to life, and the TV studio and audio control room workspace that houses the equipment were constructed soon after.

“Now that our students are immersed in their work, we thought it was time to dedicate the space,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edward R. Fuhrman. “We have big dreams [for the space].”
Also at the ceremony was former Board of Education President Karen Zevin, who noted that the initial grant required the space to have a community connection.

“Perhaps the [village] library can use it for announcements or other things,” she said.
After the ribbon cutting, high school seniors who have been involved with the studio for four years offered a tour of the audiovisual studio, sound booth and related equipment, alongside their teacher Michael Weinstein. Galef spoke directly with students about how they use the studio and its equipment, including the four-camera setup, green screen and more. Following the tour, students interviewed Dr. Fuhrman and Galef in-studio.
Galef said she was impressed with the scope of the studio and the amount of equipment involved.
“This is just wonderful,” she said.
