Croton-Harmon School District Plans Parent Forum
The committee is looking for community and parent input to analyze the current state of the district.
Croton-Harmon School District’s Strategic Coherence Planning Committee, made up of 25 educators, board of education representatives, parents, community members and students, is pleased to announce its upcoming Dec. 6 Parent/Community Forum. Formed last spring, committee is made up of volunteers who have been performing a careful review of the research on the skills and knowledge Croton-Harmon students will need in order to succeed in the future.
“The committee found that our students need to be able to think creatively, globally, independently, and perhaps differently, to contribute positively to a globalized society,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edward R. Fuhrman Jr. stated. “As we reflected on the current research, we are certainly reminded of the Croton-Harmon School District’s vision and mission.”

Following that research, the committee identified “critical and creative thinking for problem solving” as the focus of the district’s new five-year educational plan. Now, the committee is looking for community and parent input to analyze the current state of the district and the desired state through two means – the Dec. 6 forum and an electronic survey.
Which may be accessed through Dec. 7 here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r... The Tues., Dec. 6 forum for community members and parents will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Croton-Harmon High School (36 Old Post Road South Croton-on- Hudson NY 10520) Community Room. A committee facilitator will lead attendees through a process designed to gather input and feedback regarding the future direction of the Croton-Harmon K-12 educational system. Please RSVP for the forum by emailing Jacqueline Meyer at Jacqueline.meyer@chufsd.org. “Input from both the parent/community forum and the parent/community survey will be shared with the full Strategic Coherence Planning Committee and will be used to help us develop the five-year educational plan,” said Dr. Fuhrman. “We hope to have an educational plan for presentation to our Board of Education in the spring of 2017.”
