CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Jennifer Jiles who nominated Miles, a high school senior in Croton-On-Hudson.

How do you know the star local student?

My son

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

As Miles put it on his website www.themilestaylor.com: "Being able to help others is in my blood. I have always been a curious kid with an admiration for change. I came to realize that my actions can make a difference. So, in the second grade I created the Harry Chapin Run Against Hunger 50/50 Raffle, and in my Sophomore year 'Appliance Robin Hood'."

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Empathy is his middle name. Miles is also kind, gracious, hardworking and giving.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Miles!
