Croton Offering Pop-Up COVID Vaccine Clinic

UPDATE: This pop-up will offer the Moderna formulation. Though it is recommended for individuals six months and older to protect against serious illness, the clinic staff will be unable to vaccinate children at this pop-up, village officials said.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Updated 2023-24 COVID vaccines will be available at a pop-up clinic Oct. 6.

The new vaccine targets the Omicron XBB.1.5 variant.

The rollout comes after an advisory panel at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention panel voted Tuesday to approve the new vaccine for anyone six months and older.

"I know everyone wants to be done with COVID, but COVID is not done with us," Gov. Kathy Hochul said Sept. 13, pointing out that cases are rising and that the old shots won't protect against the new variant. "It is literally a new vaccine, it is not a booster shot."
