Croton Police: Roadkill, Wheeled Chair Rides, Accident Near Atro
A summary of recent police activity and arrests in the village of Croton-on-Hudson.

Roadkill
Police had to shoot a rabbit hit by a car and get the DOT to move a dead deer out of the roadway last week.
A woman driving east on Route 129 reported to police that she had hit a deer on August 14 at 9:28 p.m. The deer ran out as she was driving, causing front right side damage to the car. Police found the deer dead upon their arrival at Grand Street and notified the state DOT to clear it.
On South Riverside Avenue near ShopRite on August 15 at 5:55 a.m. a driver said a rabbit had been hit by a car and was still alive in the roadway. Police "discharged one round" to kill it, Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said.
Bike Left at School for the Summer
Police picked up a bike that had been left at the Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School on Glen Place for three to four weeks. A school employee called police on August 15 and they took it to headquarters.
Accident near Atro Collision with Argument and Injury
Two callers informed police about a two-car accident on South Riverside Avenue on August 15 at 4:14 p.m. A third caller said the drivers were now arguing with each other.
Officers at the scene requested ambulances for two -- one had a leg injury and the other a head injury. One man was transported to Phelps Memorial Hospital and the other ended up refusing medical attention.
The scene, which happened to be near Atro Collision Center, was cleared with both parties requesting towing.
Brotherly Fight
A neighbor reported loud fighting in the apartment above on South Riverside Avenue on August 18 at 2:53 a.m.
Police requested an ambulance for one party in what was apparently a fight between brothers, however the man refused medical assistance. Police filed a domestic incident report.
PA Woman Gets Five Tickets on Croton Point Avenue
Police pulled over a car on August 18 at 5:08 p.m. and issued five tickets to its driver, a 23-year-old from Redding, PA.
Police said her registered had expired, she was unlicensed, with no insurance. The child in the car was not in a carseat and she ran a stop sign.
She was released with a court date.
Mysterious Rollover
A one-car accident is under investigation, police said, after responding to the scene of a partial rollover on North Riverside Avenue by Wolf Road.
The accident occurred early evening on August 18, leaving a car on its side. Police report no injuries, and no driver found, at this time.
Wheel Chairs?
Police got a call that youths were riding chairs with wheels on them down Maple Street on August 18 at 10:14 p.m.
Police found no one at there when they arrived.
