Father Jumps To Train Tracks To Help Son Who Fell
The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department said quick responses by the father, first responders and Metro North helped prevent a tragedy.
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — A father jumped onto the electrified tracks at the Croton-Harmon Train Station Friday to help save his son.
The Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department said on Facebook that the incident happened around 10:30 a.m.
The man’s son fell onto the tracks and he immediately “put himself in harm’s way to help his son on the tracks until First Responders arrived,” the fire department said.

Fire department personnel, along with Croton EMS, Croton police, MTA police, MTA Fire/Safety and an Ossining EMS paramedic, were sent to the train station.
The son was loaded into a Stokes basket and brought up to the platform. He was turned over to the EMS crew.

Both father and son were taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
“Quick actions to stop power and rail traffic by MTA Metro-North played a major part in the safety of the injured as well as FD and EMS personnel,” the fire department said.
Additional equipment and personnel were canceled en route because of an adequate number of people and equipment already at the scene.
