Frost Advisory Issued For Much Of The Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Frost is probable overnight as temperatures will drop, and the National Weather Service has issued an advisory for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester counties.

The advisory will be in effect from 2 to 9 a.m. Tuesday. Temperatures in the low to middle 30s will result in frost, which could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation left uncovered.

"We believe that that Ulster, Dutchess, Columbia & Greene counties have the same risk of frost/freeze tonight," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "Sullivan & Delaware counties have likely already had a frost this season."

In Dutchess and Ulster counties, temps will drop into the lower 30s overnight, the NWS said.

Then — get this — it's going to get warm.

"A strong area of high pressure will sprawl over much of the eastern third of the U.S. this week. As it builds, daytime highs will trend upward in most of the East," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.

• Monday night - Patchy frost after 3am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 35. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Tuesday - Areas of frost before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 62. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.
• Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 41. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.
• Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.
• Wednesday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Southwest wind around 7 mph.
• Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.
• Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 52.
• Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 73.
• Friday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 57.
• Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 74
