Health Officials Make Decision On Reopening 2 Beaches Ahead of The 4th

After two Westchester beaches were ordered closed for the weekend, new testing was done on Monday.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — If the weather cooperates, that Independence Day beach trip is back on.

After a new round of testing on Monday showed bacteria levels below the upper level of bacteria as outlined by the sanitary code, the Westchester County Department of Health said late Tuesday afternoon that both Croton Point Park Beach and Philips Manor Beach have been given permission to open.

The county's Beach Surveillance Program is designed to protect the public from illnesses associated with swimming in waters that are contaminated.
