Obituary: David Warner Carpenter Sr., Longtime Ossining Resident

David Warner Carpenter, Sr., age 83, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC.

David was born in Manhattan, New York on October 10, 1939 to the late Francis Warner Carpenter and the late Dorothy Sweeny Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Janice Edelmann Carpenter in 2021 and a daughter, Diana Saltalamacchia in 2019.

He studied at Duke University and served in the United States Marine Corps. A life long Blue Devils fan, Dave retired to North Carolina after a 30-year career as an award winning manager for Liberty Mutual Insurance in NYC. He commuted from Ossining, NY, where he and his high school sweetheart, Jan, raised their family. He enjoyed being outdoors playing golf and celebrating the 34th of July.

He is survived by three children, Deborah (Mark) Stafford, of Patterson NY, Donna Carpenter and David W. (Karinna) Carpenter, Jr., both of Clayton, NC; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Ann McKay; and Martha Dempsey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
