
Former Ossining resident Sylvia Ann Zavarella died on July 9 at age 85.
She passed away in Lafayette, Colorado surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Ossining on Nov. 1 to the late Ellen and Silvio DiDonato.
Zavarella and her husband, Louis Zavarella, owned and operated the “Ossining Meateria” until it closed in 1984.

Her children Carol Ann and Lisa, her sisters Lee and Terry, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren with one on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews survive her.
Her husband and brother James pre-decease her.

Donations can be made, in lieu of flowers, to the SPCA of Westchester County, Westchester Community College Foundation or the charity of your choice.

Zavarella’s life will be celebration on Friday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Ossining. The interment will follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
