Sunny To Start With Chilly, Cloudy Finish: Hudson Valley Weekend

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The region is on an autumn roller coaster, with temps soaring and then dropping again.

"With temperatures between 15° and 20° above average, we have a beautiful few days ahead ... hopefully you can take advantage!" said the folks at Hudson Valley Weather.

Friday and Saturday will be positively balmy. Plus, they'll be mostly sunny.

"Numerous records will be challenged across the Northeast over the upcoming days," said Alyssa Glenny, AccuWeather Meteorologist.

Rain will return Sunday, as a storm moves in from the West that will lower temps by Halloween into the 40s in the daytime and into the 30s that night.

"A roller-coaster pattern of temperatures is not entirely out of the ordinary during October. Most years, a frost or freeze from mid- to late October across the Northeast is a common occurrence," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist David Dombek said.

"Halloween night has potential to deliver some snowflakes, especially for locations on the north side of I-84. Nothing to accumulate but flakes likely mixed with rain showers," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather said on Facebook.

• Sunday - Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers. Cooler with highs around 60.
